Delaware Surf Fishing Tags Go On Sale This Week
It is that time of year to get your Annual Delaware Surf Fishing Tags
The 2020 Delaware Surf Fishing tags or permits go on sale December 6th in the Delaware State Park offices, the Indian River Life Saving Station, area retailers, and online. We will post the link when it becomes active.
I highly recommend you get a two year tag. Parks are now limited to issuing 17,000 Delaware Surf Fishing tags per year. That doesn’t mean there are only 17,000 tags in circulation. Parks will stop issuing tags once they reach that 17,000 number, we have a pool going when that happens this year. “I am driving four hours that weekend, just to make sure I get mine this year.” There are less than 4,000 tags held by out of state anglers, the rest are all Delaware owned.
Delaware Surf Fishing tags will also be available online through the Delaware State Parks website. I imagine those servers are going to get a workout, first person too crash the servers wins a DSF Summer Slam T shirt.
Right now the link to purchase tags is not active until December 6th but it should be Friday morning. You can check Delaware State Parks’ website to see when it becomes active. Park offices open at 8 AM, see you in line Friday morning. Bonus for anyone who didn’t get their Delaware Surf Fishing tag last year, your 2020 tag is good to drive on the beach for the rest of 2019 I am told. Not that the fishing is any good this time of year. We have dogfish and skates in the surf and who knows maybe the migratory striped bass will show up, we do have plenty of short striped bass in the surf.
