Whale Breached Off Herring Point Today

A whale breached in front of a few thousand beach goers today.  The whale watching boats out of jersey were chattering on the radio about a longfin whale, but I don’t think it was this whale.  It breached about noon today and I know the beach was packed by ten.   We have received many messages asking if anyone saw the whale.  I was watching the apparel tent at the time, but would have loved to see this.   Tara Sheridan sent this picture to the Facebook page and we blew it up a little in the lower picture.  Nice treat for a crowded Memorial day weekend, seeing a whale breach at the beach.
