Summer Striped Bass Slot Season

Summer striped bass slot season started July first, and will last until August thirty first. You can keep striped bass or rockfish in the size range of twenty to twenty five inches. Personally they are my favorite size to eat, they are all male fish so you are not hurting the population or eating a heavily polluted fish. This slot is only allowed in the Delaware River, Bay and it’s tributaries. There are some great places to fish for them from the north to the south The Lewes canal is a tributary from the King’s highway bridge to the Roosevelt Inlet, and yes, the Broadkill River is a tributary as well as Canary Creek in Lewes. There has been some really good action in the Lewes canal fishing structure and piers. Cape Henlopen State Park pier has some decent action for slots. Up north the action in the tidal creeks and rivers is best at the bridges. The slot season does not apply to the inland bays or their tributaries, that includes the Indian River Inlet.
Fish On!
