Easter Beach Clean Up
We had our weekly beach clean up today. Everyone met in Delaware Seashore State Park at Keybox. We only had eight people, but I wasn’t expecting a huge turnout. I mean what kind of a heathen holds a beach clean up on a Sunday. This guy.
We got a decent amount of trash off the beach, found an old whitewall tire with a rusted out rim, a whitefish (condom), and bunch of little pieces of plastic. Which makes up the majority of beach trash.
The waves were wicked today, the beach is wide, and the surf is as well. It looks like Jersey surf and i wish it would look like this all of the time. This is much better structure for fishing. Different areas for fish to sit and look for food. Eventually the beaches will be back to the normal Delaware look. Close shorebreak and hard to read.
Cape Henlopen is really flat and full of tide pools in the surf. Especially from Herring Point to Gordon’s Pond. You have to walk a good ways at low tide to get to the surf on a calm day now. Most likely this is all of Rehoboth’s replenished sand.
The next beach clean up is May 6th. This coming weekend is the Delmarva outdoors Expo in Harrington at the fairgrounds. I will be busy with that, come out and have a great time Friday to Sunday.
