Weekly Beach Clean Ups Resume

Today was the first day of weekly beach clean ups in the Delaware State parks. These will all happen on Tuesdays and we will meet at a different park each week, there is a schedule below. Delaware Surf Fishing LLC in cooperation with Surfrider Foundation Delaware Chapter, Big Chill Beach Club and Liquid Board shops hosted today’s clean up. We met at 8 AM and volunteers were given gloves and trash bags to clean up the southside beach and 3Rs.

We chose Tuesday for the fact it is the least crowded beach day in the summer. The weekend holdovers are gone. The crowds on the beach are easier to deal with. Once winter gets here we will move to weekends in the off season when the beaches are less crowded. Despite the fact it was a weekday we had eighteen volunteers that helped for two hours. That will add thirty six hours to the parks volunteer hour tally that they can use to help get grants. Big thanks to the Big Chill Beach Club, Liquid Board Shop, Big Chill Surf Cantina and Crooked Hammock for helping sponsor these clean ups.

If you want to help you just have to show up at the designated time and place. Bring gloves if you have them, otherwise we can provide you with gloves.
