The Nao Santa Maria Replica Is In Delaware City

The Nao Santa Maria Replica is in Delaware City at the marina until Tuesday when she heads to Ocean City, MD.

A few days ago the Nao Santa Maria was escorted to the Delaware City Marina Docks by the TowBoat Us Chesapeake City crews. Because when you need to move around a ship like this, you call the best.

The Nao Santa Maria is on her way to Ocean City, Maryland next. With a quick stop over at the Delaware City Marina for tours. The marina is located at the intersection of the Delaware River and the C&D Canal, 302 Canal Street.

The Nao Santa Maria is open until 7 PM for tours till Sunday, and is leaving Tuesday, by way of the Delaware Bay. Ticket prices are Adults $15, Kids $5 (between 5 and 12 years old), Family $35 (Includes up to two adults and three kids). Under 5 is free.

The Nao Santa Maria replica was built in 2017 by the Nao Victoria Foundation. She is an exact replica of the largest of the three ships that Christopher Columbus sailed in 1492. She sailed the same route as the original Santa Maria from Spain to the Caribbean in 2018. Now she is traveling along our coasts on a education tour.

Ocean City, MD will host the Santa Maria on August 12th to September 5th. According to the Ocean City Town Council who approved her visit with a memorandum of understanding (MOU). Dates are subject to change due to weather and sea conditions.

Visitors can purchase tour tickets on the website. There will be daily tours and vendors at the 3rd street park in downtown Ocean City, MD.

I’m hoping she hugs the Delaware coast a little so we can get pictures from the beach. she will enter Ocean City vis the Ocean City inlet. Hopefully on the 11th of August, she leaves Delaware city the 10th according to the Chesapeake City TowBoat US crew..
Maybe we will get lucky and she makes a stop in Lewes. Last ship we had here was in August 2018, when the Vikings invaded Lewes, in the Draken Harald Hårfagre.
