The Lead Pot will open this Friday the 20th of May, I know many people have seen the shop sign and have been wondering when this will open. Friday they will be open at 6 AM until 9 PM. Recently Chris Kramer and his family found a nice spot on 113 or Dupont Highway near Dagsboro. They decided to put a bait and tackle shop in the garage in the back yard. Chris Kramer “It has always been my dream to own a bait and tackle shop.” Chris and his son Chris have been making jig heads, bucktails, flies, and weights for well over a year now, selling online. They decided to go the next step and open up a tackle shop. The Lead Pot is located at 32609 Dupont Highway, it is just about a half mile south of Royal Farms on the northbound lane side. The shop is between two turn around spots and they have plenty of parking and room for boats on trailers.
The Lead Pot is a full line tackle shop with saltwater and freshwater gear. The Lead Pot specializes in quality hand tied bucktails. These are the same ones I use to hammer bluefish in the surf and from the boat. They can stand up to the vicious action, especially the hooks. Not only do they have your traditional red and white bucktails, but they tie up some color combinations and patterns that do very well. They have a new jig head that is killer for flounder. The shop has a great selection of fly tying gear, crabbing supplies, and offshore gear. The weight selection is the largest in the state of Delaware, you offshore boys can get custom work done as well. They will have frozen baits to start. Working on fresh bunker, and eventually they are going to have holding tanks for live minnows and eels. They also have Diamond State Custom Tackle, great locally made surf fishing rigs. I like the fact the The Lead Pot will be open at 4 AM on the busy fishing days, so will many anglers. Also for all you Maryland bound anglers, this is the last stop in Delaware for tax-free bait and tackle. They will also have DSF apparel in about a week. Good luck to the Kramers in your new venture and welcome to the fishing community.
