Swimming Hazard At Northside Beach

Yesterday we mentioned in the beach conditions report of a hazard. Somehow the wrong photo posted as the article header of the old coast guard tower base, that is not the hazard. Well unless you reun into it full bore on a board at high tide.

This big mussel encrusted rock in the surf and exposed at low tide is the hazard. During high tide and large waves this is hidden under the water. I don’t have to tell you what kind of damage that would do to a surfer or swimmer. You can get a good idea of the size of the rock from the picture below.

Just be careful and parks has been alerted hopefully they will mark it as a hazard. Removing it would be even better. Most likely it is chunk of jetty rock. This is located about a 100 yards north of the jetty.
