The Overfalls Lightship Return To Lewes Is Postponed
The Overfalls Lightship was scheduled to return to Lewes Friday the 13th, but now has been postponed. The biggest issue with jobs like this is the fact you have to rely on the weather to coincide with tides. We are looking at some heavy winds for Friday and the southwest wind will lower the water level in the canal to the point it will be too shallow for the Overfalls Lightship. This was decided this morning.
The tow in has been rescheduled for another tentative date in the last week of April. This will be the next best tide cycle. The long-range forecast looks favorable as well, but we all know Dela-weather can change in about fifteen minutes. We will keep you updated upon her return.
I think it is kind of ominous that it got canceled on Friday the 13th, for all you folks that are superstitious. The first thing I was thinking was it’s coming in on Friday the 13th, what could go wrong.
The breakfast is still a go we are told …
“Attention Overfalls members! Join us on Saturday, April 14, at 8:30 am for our annual Overfalls Foundation Breakfast With The Mayor. Our meeting will be held at Irish Eyes Pub & Restaurant along the canal in Lewes. There’s a possibility that the ship will return by then. Tickets for the breakfast buffet are $17 and are available on our website”
