Old Lewes boat ramp on the canal at low tide. Kayakers can still use the ramp just stay off the docks for your own safety.

The town of Lewes closed the old floating dock sections and removed the center section and a few others.  Anglers and baoters have been asking me why there is a stockade looking fence around the old dock sections, it looks like a fort along the water.  Alice Erickson, Administrative Assistant … “It is a safety issue we don’t want anyone getting hurt.  Please let people know to stay off the old floating docks they are unsafe.  We blocked that area off so no one could access them.”      Kaykers and SUP anglers have been asking if they can still launch there.     Alison Kirk, Parks & Marina Administrator, “Kayakers and SUPs can still launch from the cement ramp.  There aren’t any floating docks to launch from and we want them to stay off the old docks.”  We are replacing these docks in the fall with a new design.  People can still fish from the gazebo fishing area in front of Canal Front park.  You cannot fish from the floating boat dock near the drawbridge.”  Anybody remember the days of sitting in Irish Eyes and watching the boat ramp antics live and in person?
