Ocean City Fishing Pier Repairs Have Begun

I spoke with the Ocean City Engineer Terry McGean this morning and he said the repairs for the Ocean City Pier should be done by Memorial day weekend. “It is the typical answer for a project like this, it will be done between now and by Memorial Day weekend. The pier is owned by Ocean City, MD but is run by a concession we are not in control of the repairs that is up to the concessionaire. We hope they will complete the work by a designated date and obviously in time for the summer season.” About 150 feet of the pier was lost during storm Jonas just before the building on the pier. The Ocean City Fishing pier is in a very exposed area of the surf and during storms it takes a pounding. The last repairs were done in 2012 after Superstorm Sandy splintered the pier. Workers on the pier have said they hope too have all repairs done by Springfest which happens on Cinco De Mayo. The owners of the concession Bayshore Development Company could not be reached for comment. Hopefully the pier will be repaired soon and we can fish it again for the coming spring. The Oceanic Fishing Pier is doing fine and will be ready for some fishing soon too.
Fish On!
