NASA Sounding Rocket Launches Tomorrow

NASA Will Launch A Sounding Rocket Tuesday From Wallops Island, Virgina

If you happen to be at the beach tomorrow or out and about for the morning, keep an eye on the sky. NASA is launching a sounding rocket from Wallops Island, VA. Unfortunately there won’t be any way to know exactly when it will launch. Usually there are live video feeds and you can watch from the NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitors Center. Not tomorrow.

This launch is in support of a Department of Defense Mission. I imagine that is the reason for not live streaming. The rocket launch will occur between 5:30 and 8:45 AM, September 17th. You should be able to see it from the mid Atlantic coast.

Next up we are going to NASA at Wallops for the next Antares launch, that date and time is still to be announced. We are working on a remote camera to get some close shots of the launch from near the pad area. This will be the first trip of the new Cygnus cargo craft. Looking forward to the tour and launch.
