Large Mouth Bass Breaks Delaware State Record
This afternoon Andrew Klein of New Castle, Delaware weighed in a large mouth bass at Bills Sport Shop at 11 pounds 1.6 ounces, according to Bill Baker Sr. “They kept the bass alive in my bait tanks until Troy Trimmer from Fish and Wildlife Enforcement could get there to certify the record.” The fish measured twenty seven inches with a girth of ten and a half inches. The fish was released back into Wagamons pond in Milton, DE once it was certified as the new state record. Funny thing I was at Wagamons today eating across the street at Goodfellahs and saw one boat out there fishing. I wonder if it was this young man. Bill Baker Sr. said “The fish out weighed the current record by a half pound.” The old record is held by James D. Hitchens at ten pounds ten ounces in 2012. I seem to remember that fish was also released after it was certified. Delaware has a live release citation program. Congratulations Andrew that will be one tough record to beat, that fish is a beast. I spoke with Andrew after publishing this you can read his story here.
