Killer Bird Show Today While Catching
Today was beautiful at Cape Henlopen on Herring Point beach. It was crowded, but it wasn’t that bad, for once. That or we were catching fish so much we didn’t care. Yes, despite what some may think or say, you can catch fish in the dead of the afternoon at the beach, you just have to actually fish. We gave Mike a DS Custom Tackle chartreuse top and bottom rig to re[lace his crappy cheap rig, and he started catching fish.
We weren’t the only ones catching, the birds were doing their fair share of fishing today. The osprey were pulling bunker constantly. if they weren’t two hundred yards offshore they were in close. There were small schools of fish moving by all day, probably bunker, but a couple could have been bluefish. Didn’t latch into anything following them, but it is hard to cast spoons to a school of moving fish with so many lines in the water (that aren’t being attended, and probably would be better if they weren’t there, the lines not the people, but whatever).
Today everyone around us was fishing, or at least honestly trying, and catching to boot. It was a good day.
This one osprey did some serious fishing all morning. Then this eagle flew by and was looking in the surf. It dove in on a fish way offshore, but came up with the skunk. Had this been a real skunk the eagle would have been eating and happy. Well, skunk, but yeah. Unfortunately for the eagle, it knew how many usually feel trying to catch at the beach in the summer. Today was a good day of fishing all around for everyone. Weakfish, kingfish, sand perch, and burrfish for our group. There were lots of fish caught all over the beaches and waterways today. Will put that up later, I’m hitting another soon to be deserted beach for some night fishing. Have a great rest of your Sunday Funday, be careful going home, too many accidents these days.
