Hurricane Joaquin Tracks East

Hurricane Joaquin latest track heading east and out to sea.
Hurricane Joaquin latest track heading east and out to sea.

Hurricane Joaquin is tracking much further east now, however we will still see some storm surge and the like associated with offshore hurricanes.  South Carolina is taking a hit right now with offshore winds and tidal flooding.  Our Nor’easter is still pummeling the coast.  All weekend events are canceled.  Expect more flooding at today’s and tonight’s high tide.  Deldot might close route 1 again for flooding but that remains to be seen.   Just be prepared for a possible long trip around the bay later this afternoon and late tonight.  All area low lying communities are flooding to a degree.  For the most part there has been little damage except some boats that are on piers or have washed into marsh areas.  The loose dock in Oak Orchard is now bouncing off different piers.  Inshore waves are averaging 10 feet and are very fast, water temperature is 69 degrees.  Tuesday is looking like a nice beach day.  Do not drive through saltwater is bad for your car, turn around don’t drown.  If you can’t see the road do not attempt to cross, lot of cars washing into ditched form strong currents.
