Gift Card Donation Drive For the US Coast Guard Indian River Station
We are collecting donations this Thursday for the United States Coast Guard crews at the Indian River Station. We have all of this approved ahead of time.
These folks are on duty and have helped many people in the past who would not be here today had it not been for their efforts, they could use our help, and frankly deserve it. We are not going to get into the politics of this, we just want to help them out during this shutdown.
We are doing this “drive” for gift cards only, these cards must be in increments of no more than $20, that is a USCG policy. There will be a collection station at Crooked Hammock Brewery, Thursday night 4 pm to 8 pm. We will be there collecting donated gift cards.
Easy Speak Distillery in Milford, DE is also collecting donations for us, they will collect and catalog your donations. You can drop off gift card donations there until Thursday night. I will pick them up Friday morning and deliver to the station in the afternoon.
If you would like to make a larger donation there are two programs you can use to do so: Coast Guard Mutual Assistance Fund and the Chief Petty Officer Association. I understand that you can earmark your donation for certain stations. You will have to contact the organizations to ask for specific details.
We will deliver the collected donations on Friday January 25, 2019 in the afternoon. Donations will be inventoried and listed as they are collected. You can donate anonymously for the public press release, but for the station’s needs we are keeping a record of all donations and donors to give to them for their records, again that is a policy as I am told.
Some of the crew members are young families with children. They could certainly use some help and even some fun stuff for the kids.
