Flounder Pounder Open at Paradise Grill Fourth Day Results
Yesterday was the next to the last day at the scales. 222 boats were fishing, and it was a nice day. Boats weren’t at the scales by 4 PM, many of the anglers were fishing until the last minute. Everyone is picking through lots of fish. Great catches just too small to score. The daily calcutta has helped several teams win some money.
Boats started coming in one after another about a half hour before the scales were closed. Some were coming in hot, with fish for the scales. The first five fish of the day always make the daily calcutta board. Then we get to watch the places change constantly.
There was some excitement at the scales. Team Builder’s Choice angler Joe Ribinsky was showing the boys his fish in the cooler. You could tell by the look on Chuck’s face it was a good size. He pulls that flounder out and it is a beast compared to what we have seen all day.
They call out the measurement, 27 inches, the crowd goes wild. First place is a 27.5 inch flounder. second place is also 27 inches. We have a contender! Chuck puts the fish on the scales, the numbers scroll like a slot machine. The numbers finally settle down and we are looking at 7.9 pounds. Joe just slammed second place by seven tenths of a pound.
The excitement of a winning fish always get everyone excited. When it is a local Deaware crew it is even more exciting. New Jersey still holds first place. That could change today. There are 137 boats out today. All of these crews are looking to beat that 8.6 pound fish. A nice double digit foot wiper would be perfect.
Some of the anglers are catching bonus fish while trying to cik up a winning flounder. Team Rock On came tot he scales with a small flounder to try too get the calcutta. They also had a 44 inch Mahi they caught, on a flounder rig. “We were catching flounder and had just reeled in a skate. This mahi swims out from under the boat. We flipped a white flounder rig towards it and wham! Fish On! “ Captain TIm Tribbet. Tyler Tribbet caught the mahi, that is a lot of nice tacos. Way to go boys, Al needs to add a mahi category.
We will see you at the scales at 4 PM today until 6 PM. The awards are at 7:30 PM at the main stage at Paradise Grill.
