Flounder Pounder Open Day Two Turns It Up
Second Day Of The Flounder Pounder Open scales At Paradise Grill
The scales were ready today for the Flounder Pounder Open 2019 at 4 PM, we just needed some fish. There were boats out fishing loaded with anglers.
Everyone was anticipating a mild day at the scales. You never know what will hit at a tournament, but the first day in a few day tournament is always the most exciting. Well most of the time. So far it has been.
The weather was nice today, not too windy, offshore conditions were decent, enough. Weekend looks way better, and many are waiting for those days. The weather was better than yesterday. Boats went out and fished.
One boat went out late, not by choice, and under protest of hungover anglers. That is a funny story … wait for it.
Better yet, is it is good they went fishing today, despite all the “hungoverness”. Wait for it, for reel.
The leader board is full , only thing we may see is a change up. the calcutta board is wide open, adding huge excitement for the possible daily cash pay outs. If I was told I could only go for the calcutta … I’d hit it.
The boats were slow coming in to the scales, compared to yesterday. The weather is much better, if you can, and you must, you stay to the last minute, every second for a shot at a fish that counts. Also the daily calcutta can be taken at any time by any fish, even a 2.3 pounder. So the scales were still exciting, even for the second day. Not for the three pound fish, but yeah, good times.
There were a few fish that made the scales right off the bat. The first fish topped out over five pounds, almost made the leader board and of course they hit daily calcutta. The next several fish that came to the scales were making the calcutta board, but not the leader. All good, still exciting to watch the fish come in and win some decent money.
There were less fish today but we had some quality flatties hit the scales. Then a big one was brought to the scales. Al and the crew were all excited, they announced it will take the calcutta but where will it place on the leader board? Will it place? tick tock, tick tock … Boom, big fish,! Just like that, we had a new second place leader, at $50,000. Team Mac Attack from Delaware brought it to the scales today at 7.2 pounds. Will she hold? Where will she wind up? We have a few more days to find out.
The next upset, after the second place turn over was the Perfect Mixture crew. These boys “forgot” to skip today or lay off to fish and well, they had to fish or not score. Why did they forget. Lt’s just sayyyyyyyy, maybe partying all night and a sick hangover will do that, not to mention some of the crew had to work today. They were supposed to skip today in the first place hence the partying, maybe. Once they realized the mistake, they got everyone together, hit the water, and had lines in by 11:30 or noon.
They all felt like hell, and man oh man what a tough day to even catch a fish that late in the game. They already held 6th place anyway, why bother?
They nailed fourth place, taking out their fifth place from the day before. They also got second in the daily calcutta. BOOOOOOM!
Moral of the story In a tournament … party more, skip work, fish less, win more, and flippin’ send it!
