Flounder Fishing Offshore Is getting Better

The inshore flounder bite has dropped off for keepers and increased for throw backs, typical summer flounder fishing for the inland bays. So either ya’ll caught all the good ones or the bigger ones are avoiding your rigs. You might need bigger baits for the bigger fish. At least the water isn’t boiling yet, so the fish are not looking for deeper cooler water. That will change soon enough.

The offshore flounder bite has picked up a lot for all the boats and charters headed out. Katydid is doing her fair share of limiting out as usual. Large rigs with big baits will produce bigger flounder. Those little bay minnows aren’t much of a meal for a ten pound plus flounder. These big spot we are catching in the surf, around the piers and in the inland bays are perfect bait. Big fish eat big baits. John got this nine pounder on a piece of cut bait, mackerel.
