Fishing Report To The Point And Short
This is literally what the daily fishing report on the radio looks like. This time of year there is little going on as far as variety but the fishing is pretty darn good. Still hard to convey all of that in one minute.
Seabass action is hot offshore, the katydid filled the box the other day. Lot of tog action around the Delaware bay. Anglers are using green crabs, sand fleas, and box crabs with success. Sandfleas seem to be the best baits at the Indian river inlet. Some sheepshead are still hitting for the toggers.
Short striped bass action is good under the lights at night. Indian river inlet has great action, some nights are hotter than others. Masseys landing has seen some action. The Cape Henlopen fishing pier should be good under the lights at high tide.
Small blues are hitting in the surf, even some flounder here and there. Some big stargazers are around, hitting cut baits. Otherwise it is a skate fest with dogfish in the mix. Short striped bass here and there hitting white power baits along the cuts. You want to cast for them by moving up and down the beaches.
Most stores have fresh bunker, bloodworms, salted clam, all the tog baits, and eels. Everyone is geared up for striped bass or tautog fishing.
The water temperatures are hovering around sixty degrees. Drops a few ticks at night and come up a tad during the day. There are also bluefish schools are around the wrecks and reefs. Look for birds at the rips in the Delaware bay for blues.
The beaches are a little shelved off or have cliffs at the surf’s edge. Lot of good treasures for beach combers. We are looking at a nice weekend with warm weather for this time of year. Fishing should be okay, but the day time might be slow due to the nice weather. Funny how that works out. Have a great weekend!
