Evening At Prime Hook” Presents … Monitoring Fish In The Delaware Bay

Press Release from Prime Hook … Jill McCall …
Michael Greco, DNREC Fisheries Scientist, will be the next guest speaker in Prime Hook’s “Evening at the Hook” lecture series. The program will be held at the Milton CHEER center at 7 PM on Tuesday August 13th

Greco, who is a team leader for the DE Bay trawl surveys, will explain how monitoring the abundance and distribution of recreationally important fish species is conducted and how the data is used.

The division of Fish and Wildlife tracks the status of a wide variety of marine finfish and shellfish populations in the Delaware Estuary and Inland Bays through its bottom trawl survey program.

The Division’s trawl surveys are among the longest running state surveys on the East Coast.  Greco collects data that is used in the development of interstate fishery management plans and stock assessments.
