Yesterday the Dover PD put up a PSA about legal fireworks in Delaware.  That’s right certain fireworks are now legal in Delaware, but only on the 4th of July and New years.  The Dover PD’s post is hilarious and broke the internet.  This is what they posted on Facebook …

“We have had a lot of questions regarding the use of fireworks in Delaware with the recently passed law. Fireworks are only allowed to be used on the ️4th of July️ and New Year’s Eve.
ONLY ground-based and hand-held sparklers and certain other non-explosive, non-airborne items can be legally sold and used in Delaware. Firecrackers, bottle rockets, aerials, or any other device that explodes or goes in the air ARE STILL ILLEGAL…
This means no whistlin’ you-know-whats, no spleen splitters, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don’ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or whistlin’ kitty chasers.
Stick to what is sold in Delaware at fireworks retailers and please be careful this 4th of July.
Also: we are now hiring a new graphics person..”

We think their graphics design person is spot on with this post, well-played Dover PD, well-played.  Be safe and smart with any fireworks this weekend.  We are going to have a heat wave and the drier conditions could create fire hazards.
