Delaware Surf Fishing Tournaments for the year 2020, get your calendars marked.

The year is almost over, or at least it seems like it. Planning ahead for events is one way to make a year go by really fast, trust me on that, I am in outdoor expo mode right now for winter and spring. We do have one more tournament for the year. The Fall Fish Bowl 2019 is on November 30th 2019.
All Delaware Surf Fishing Tournaments raise money for Frets 4 Vets. We are proud to support a great, local organization that works with PTSD veterans.

There are four Delaware Surf Fishing tournaments in 2020. A couple more fishing tournaments are in the planning stages. There will be a few changes for next year, but the surf fishing tournaments’ themes will remain the same. There may be a few venue changes as well, we are talking to a few beach towns about using their beaches. We are adding a kids division to all of our surf fishing tournaments. Kids will be able to fish any tournament and compete in their own divisions only.

May The Fish Be With You is May 2nd, 2020, unfortunately the fourth is on a Monday. We are changing this tournament to a higher entry fee and prizes. Just like War On The Shore if we have 300 enter, first prize will be $10,000.
This time of year there are fewer tournaments around the area, more people will be able to compete. Everyone wants someone to win ten thousand dollars, so do I. There are too many surf fishing tournaments in the fall on top of each other from Maryland to New Jersey. Many who competed last year in War On The Shore couldn’t make this year due to a scheduling conflict that was beyond our control. This addition or change up will fix that issue. May The Fish Be With You Surf Fishing tournament will always be on the first weekend in May.

DSF’s Summer Surf Fishing Slam Series will run from May 4th to September 26th. This s a FREE surf fishing tournament. There will be a few changes for this summer long event as well. We are entertaining the idea of doing this series weekly instead of biweekly.
Anglers will be able to choose the day of the week they want to surf fish. Monday to Saturday will be the tournament days. May 4th to May 9th is the first week, with the awards on the 10th of May. There will be a full schedule posted soon. A playing card will be selected and announced for each day. Surf anglers will log into the DSF website on a special page and sign in for the day they want to fish, and upload their pictures. This will allow a lot more people to compete and surf fish on the less crowded days of the summer. All of the details will be online soon and again it is FREE to enter. We have a few surprises for DSF’s Summer Surf Fishing Slam Series grand prizes, you will have to wait until spring for that announcement.

War On The Shore will be held on October 3rd, the first weekend in October, and will always be on the first weekend of October. Flip flopping weekends is annoying for people who make plans a year in advance. This year War On The Shore occurred on the same weekends as other tournaments in Maryland and New Jersey.
We are still keeping this a higher end prize and entry fee tournament, but with a few changes that will be announced later. It is a blast for me and the staff watching people compete for higher end prizes, it really brings out the competitiveness in people.

The Fall Fish Bowl 2020 will be held on November 28th, 2020 the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. Just your basic run of the mill tournament the whole family can have fun attending. Not that we need an excuse to fish on the holiday weekend, but it certainly helps.

All of the Delaware Surf Fishing tournaments in 2020 will have a kid’s division. These will be separate from the overall prize categories. Kids will literally have their own tournament within the tournaments. To make it fair to all that enter, we will have two age groups. Under 13 and 14 to 17 for the high end tournaments. You must be 18 and over to compete in the higher end tournaments; May The Fish Be With You and War On The Shore. Each tournament will have the rules for the kids’ divisions.

We will see you at the Millville Volunteer Fire company’s Outdoors Show on January 10th at the firehall. Then the Delmarva Outdoors Expo April 24th to the 26th at the fairgrounds in Harrington. It is already looking like a busy winter, is it summer yet?
