Chillaware Island Fall Surf Fishing Tournament

The Chillaware Island Spring Surf Fishing Tourney has grown faster than we expected. We are adding a kids division and expanding the fishing options. Last year when we did the fall tourney we only used 3Rs because we figured with only six weeks to promote the tourney it would not bring in big numbers. We had about one hundred and forty plus people fish comfortably on 3Rs, but the beach was full. That was also because we were able to drive to the boardwalk, which is still available for the spring tourney,

The spring tournament registrations have already exceeded the fall tourney numbers. We are going to include Key Box beach to Faithful Steward crossing in the spring tournament this year. We will have a sign for the cut off towards the north pocket. The rules will still be the same. We are adding more beach to offer our participants more fishing options and locations. I know that will appeal to many who asked about that for the fall tourney.

There is a kids’ division now, we had several register already. Mike RIdings and I thought it would be a great idea to do a separate division for prizes for kids. The kids are also still eligible for the overall main prizes and for biggest fish. Delaware Surf Fishing, Liquid board Shop, Lighthouse view bait and tackle, Helly Hansen, and Diamond State Custom Tackle to name a few sponsors that are supplying prizes for the kid’s division. We still have sponsors signing up. Not only will the kids win some great prizes but they will make a memory that will last a lifetime.

You can still sign up for the tournament, we have also increased the amount of tournament shirts available. get your online registration in as soon as possible if you want shirts. Registration is also available locally at Liquid Board shop on route 1 next to Big Chill Surf Cantina.

There will not be registration available the day of the tournament. We are looking forward to the first annual Chillaware Island Spring Surf Fishing Tourney. The event tent is all set, we have a DJ, and Sweetwater Brewery is going to help us throw an awesome post tournament awards ceremony and party at Big Chill Beach Club on Cinco De Mayo.
