Careful Driving Navy Crossing Beach at High Tide

Navy crossing in Cape Henlopen State Park has been closed since the last storm. The most recent high water and winds have eroded the beach to nearly the base of the great dune.

A lot of the stumps were exposed and visible at low tide. Eventually the sand will work its way back onto the beach from wind and wave action. In the mean time I would be careful of driving towards the walk on beach at the bathhouse. There isn’t much beach at high tide. The cut at the stumps is huge! Surf Anglers can access the beach from the point crossing and drive across the walk on beach.
Other beaches in the parks are carved up and will fill back in, just be careful driving. Especially near wet swales and cuts that are draining. Delaware Seashore State park has a long swale along the drop off.
