“Cards For Guards” Update

Letter we received from the USCG Indian River Station for all who donated to the “Cards For Guards Drive”

In January, due to the government shutdown, we organized a gift card drive for the United States Coast Guard crew at Indian River Station. The community responded with unprecedented support. “We dropped off $14,570.00 in gift cards today at the United States Coast Guard Indian River Station. ”

I was floored by how much support this drive recieved and proud of this community. You all did an amazing thing, thank you … Rich King

Last week the Officer In Charge (OIC) BMC D.J. Holcomb, sent me an email with an update how the cards were used and distributed. “The donated gift cards proved to be very beneficial during the shutdown and were distributed among several Coast Guard units within the Sector Delaware Bay Area of Responsibility including Delaware, Philadelphia, and southern New Jersey. The support was very much appreciated and I am proud to serve such a generous and caring community. ”

It was great that our community was able to not only help the local Coast Guard crews of Indian River Station and Lewes, but the entire Philadelphia sector. I just wanted to throw a huge thank you and shout out to everyone who donated. You all did a great thing, and deserve thanks.

Fish On!
