Big Pomp In The Surf
We see pompano here every year in the summer, but this hands down is the largest I have ever seen caught in the surf. D Morelli was fishing Fenwick Island over the weekend and she hit this big pompano on a kingfish rig with fishbites for bait. Usually the pompano here are the size of your hand. This year they are that size and bigger. I am sure this isn’t the first big one like this caught this year.
We added pompano to the War On The Shore surf fishing tournament since they are still usually here in October, if the water temperatures hold. We don’t have a creel limit on pompano in Delaware, because the ones that make it up here will die when the water cools off, they do not head back south. Several of these beast size for our area could help
win a tournament.
