WHEN:            7 a.m. Saturday, March 7

WHERE:         Tidbury Pond south of Dover, and Newton Pond near Greenwood

WHY:              This annual rite of spring attracts hundreds of anglers eager to catch the season’s first trout, which are being stocked this week for opening day (*see note below), and promises great visuals of anglers casting their lines and catching fish.

DIRECTIONS: Tidbury Pond is located south of Dover in Kent County off State Street Extended/Route 113A. From Dover, drive south on State Street, crossing Route 13 at Carroll’s Corner. Drive past Moore’s Lake and cross Route 10 at the light. Tidbury Creek Park is on the left. From the south, drive north on Route 1/113 and bear left onto 113A/State Street Extended at Little Heaven. Drive north through Magnolia. Tidbury Creek Park is on the right, shortly before the intersection with Route 10.

Newton Pond is located east of Greenwood in Sussex County. From Greenwood, take Route 16 east towards Ellendale approximately 2¾ miles and turn right on Hunters Cove Road. Cross Owens Road and continue approximately 1.1 miles. Look for fishing area sign on right. Access is down a long dirt lane on right side. GPS address is approximately 13125 Hunters Cove Road, Greenwood, DE 19950.
