Leaves are turning, soybeans are being harvested, and the pumpkin patches are producing. Once again it is time for the annual World Championship Punkin Chunkin, November 4th, 5th & 6th, and we’re proud to bring the annual event back to the Wheatley Farm in Bridgeville, Delaware after a two year hiatus.

This year, over 100 teams from around the world are traveling to Sussex county with their trebuchets, centrifugals, torsions, catapults and of course air cannons to compete for the coveted one mile shot and a new world record. With two years of testing and tuning away from the annual competition, teams are eager to see how they will stack up against other competitors who they haven’t seen recently.

The fun doesn’t end there, we have lots of great family-friendly activities to keep every spectator entertained throughout the day. It all starts with a great band line up throughout each day, and of course lots of vendors. Be sure to check out the Pumpkin Cookin Contest, Chili Cook-Off contest and of course the Miss Punkin Chunkin Pageant, as well as games and fun for the kids. To maintain a safe, fun, and family friendly atmosphere, we have added a large beer garden where adults can try some of the best local craft beers, without the challenges posed by past years’ BYOB events.

Science Channel will be covering the Chunk once again this year, bringing Mythbusters alumni Kari Byron and Tory Belleci, as well as co-host Kyle Hill to cover the event. Keep an eye out for this year’s show, which will debut on November 26th at 8 PM.

Adding to the celebrity presence this year, Tim Smith from the popular show Moonshiners will be stopping by Punkin Chunkin on Saturday this year! Stop by near team Second Amendment (air cannon) to say hello on November 5th!.

Bringing this event back to Sussex County has been no small challenge, and we appreciate the patience of our fans and supporters – it’s your attendance that keeps this event going, from simply covering costs to allowing us to donate over a million dollars to various charities over the last few years. We would like to encourage all of our spectators to take opportunities to save on the ticket price, by purchasing tickets online in advance, or by attending the event on Friday, November 4th, or Sunday, November 6th, as we have worked very hard to hold down the ticket price on those dates to prior years’ $10 level.

We would like to thank each and every one of the dedicated volunteers for their hard work and determination all year long. Being a non profit organization we rely on volunteers to accomplish all of this work. Without that help there wouldn’t be an event, nor any money to donate to charity. Punkin Chunkin has donated over a million dollars to charity in the years past.
