White Marlin Open Will The Record Payout Lead Be Broken Today?
World Record White Marlin Payout Still In The Lead for $4.9 million dollars
(August, 5 2021) … Wednesday was the midway point of the 2021 White Marlin Open. There are 444 boats in the tournament this year, and 51 went out today. Only 33 boats went out in those snotty seas yesterday. Friday’s conditions are looking much better, I am sure most if not all of the boats will be out that day. The big news is the 82.5 pound white marlin entered on Monday, the only one scored thus far is still a world record payout. Will that be broken today?
Tune into the White Marlin Open marlin cam at the scales at 4 PM today and everyday at the Harbour Island Marina. The marina has been packed with fans.
Several tuna have been entered, one blue marlin, a shark, and a wahoo.
White Marlin Open announcement (Aug 8, 2021) … “After day three of the 48th White Marlin Open, the big story stays focused on a boat and angler that could set a world record payout for catching a fish! After the third day of fishing, the 82.5-pound white marlin caught Monday by angler Mike Atkinson off the “Fender Bender” (both from Virginia Beach, VA) is in prime position to net $4.9 million dollars! There is another $4.3 million that has been claimed in the other gamefish categories of the WMO. After Wednesday, the leaderboard remains virtually unchanged. The 559.5-pound blue marlin caught Monday by Chris Perry from the “Mama C”, both from Virginia Beach, VA, is holding onto the top blue marlin prize of $800,000.
