Weekend Warrior Weather For Surf Fishing

Another beautiful weekend to surf fish, despite the minor nautical conditions

Lately it seems every weekend we have to deal with some kind of weather. We prefer the good weather but the bad can be good depending on the conditions. This weekend is going to be a little rough on the water but should be good fishing the beaches. High tide shouldn’t be an issue, however the beaches are rather flat. Just be careful parking near the water at low tide. Watch the high tide line.

Friday the wind picks up with heavier seas. There is a small craft advisory for today, and I expect one over the weekend. The water temperatures around the inland bays have been increasing daily. It dropped to seventy degrees when the cold front came through and now we are nearing eighty degrees. On the bright side the DFM (Damn Fly Meter) at the beach will be a solid zero.

The Delaware Bay and the Delaware beaches water temperatures are in the mid seventies. The water has been nice and clean at the beach, even at low tide at Cape Henlopen. That will get a little dirtier with stirred up sand due to these winds. Fish don’t care they will still chew. Holding bottom shouldn’t be too bad. No worse compared to last weekend’s storm surge.
