The Tackle Box ID Card For Delaware Sharks

Identify your shark catch easily in the water

This is a handy guide I have for Identifying sharks. There is a more detailed Sander’s shark guide to walk you through the differences of the harder to identify sharks. This smaller tackle box guide is much handier to have with you on the beach or boat. A good rule of thumb is that any shark with a dorsal ridge must be let go immediately, in most cases.

Sander’s Shark Identification guide uses a simple flow chart to help identify a shark. Not great for on the spot ID but good to study to learn the differences.

Sander’s Shark Identification guide is the more detailed version. There is also an online Delaware Shark Identification guide on DNREC”s website that was published in 2013. It is a good reference to have to ID sharks in Delaware. Only issue is it isn’t published it is only online. Using your phone in the hot sun and water is an issue at times.
