Summer Slot Striped Bass and Tautog Season ends

Striped bass, rock fish, fall run, spring run, migratory atlantic fish,
Striped bass or Rock fish

Slot Striped Bass and Tautog Season ends on August 31st at midnight, you have one more day left.  Delaware will be back to normal regulations for striped bass in all state tidal waters until spawning season starts in the spring on April 1st.  Summer slot season is only for the Delaware Bay and all her tributaries, including the Lewes Canal from the train bridge to the Roosevelt inlet.  Tautog season will open back up on September 29th and continue through March 31st.  This is really the best time for tautog fishing and very few have been caught during the open summer season.  Black Sea bass will close September 21st and reopen on October 18th.  The point opens up September 1st and I am excited to get out there and do a little surf fishing.  Last time I went across that area in a boat it was fifty feet deep twenty yards off the point.  I am excited to see how it has changed or been shaped this year by the currents and tides.  It looks a little different every year.  There will still be a closed section on the bay side for a federally protected plant, Seabeach amaranth.  Please keep that in mind if you are driving or walking near this area.
