Severe Weather Warning For Today

The NWS has a severe weather warning for this afternoon and evening.

THERE IS AN ENHANCED RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THIS
AFTERNOON/EVENING FROM NORTHEAST TX TO MO…AND ACROSS PARTS OF THE
MID-ATLANTIC…

…SUMMARY…
Scattered severe storms are likely from portions of the southern
Plains through the Ozarks, and across the Ohio Valley to the
north-central Appalachians and Mid-Atlantic States today and
tonight.

PA/Mid-Atlantic area this afternoon/evening…
An embedded mid-upper speed max in the vicinity of Lake Erie will
move east-southeastward over PA this afternoon, inducing a weak
surface wave along a stalled front from PA into NJ.
Deep-layer vertical shear and buoyancy will be favorable for supercells and organized storm clusters capable of producing large hail and damaging winds.
Similar to yesterday, a tornado or two will be possible with storms that interact with the baroclinic zone across northern and eastern PA into NJ. The backdoor front and cool marine influence will tend to limit the northeast extent of the surface-based severe threat across NJ/northeastern PA.
