Sailboat On The Beach In Cape Henlopen State Park Update
Tow boat US is on their way to evaluate the situation. Right now DNREC, parks, and all kinds of resources are on the beach looking at a sailboat on its side in the surf. The sailboater was taken off the boat and sent to Beebe earlier for medical issues. This whole ordeal started about 4:30 AM this morning.
Captain Clarke Droney “We sent the tow boat US crew out with Captain Buckey this morning about 5 AM to pull this sailboat off a bar in the Lewes Canal. Since then he washed up on Cape Henlopen State Parks’ beach in front of Fort Miles. We are getting the gear together to trailer it off the beach. ”
“You can’t just pull the boat up the beach it will break into pieces. We have to secure it and when the tide lets out we will have enough room to work around it and get it off the beach. I doubt we will try to pull it back out to sea, the water is really rough today in the surf.” Capt. Clarke Droney, Tow Boat US Indian River.
I’m going back down to watch this process never seen a boat removed from a beach before.
Fish On!
