Ocean City Fishing Pier Is Open

The ocean city fishing pier repairs were completed a couple of days ago.  The pier is now open for business.  The pier was damaged heavily during storm Jonas.  Crews spent the better part of three months making repairs, setting new pylons and rebuilding the decking.  Not an easy task when you are twenty feet in the air over the surf.  The damage during the storm took out the end, as well as several sections.  There were a few sections untouched in front of the building on the pier. During the storm an entire section and a lot of debris washed up on the beach.

There are great views from the Ocean City Fishing Pier during sunrise and sunsets, even the views from the beach are spectacular.  The pier makes a great subject for many photographers as a background and all kinds of views.  The iconic under the board walk view looking out towards sea is a favorite.  The sunrise as a backdrop is probably the most popular  This is the only ocean pier in our area.  You don’t need a Maryland fishing license to fish the pier.  They even have gear for rent.  Just show up and have a good time surf fishing the ocean from above and never get your feet wet.

The Oceanic Fishing Pier at the end of Philadelphia st.  is another great option for fishing the bayside of the Ocean City Inlet.  The fishing there is a bit different than the ocean pier.  You have more structure and moving water to fish.  There are many options to fish for and the action is good most days.
