Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star reported the other day that the Ocean City Reef Foundation has dropped their 26,000th block in their reef building program.

Captain Monty Hawkins … “Mate Cody Gallien and friend Capt Jeff Nottingham just dropped our 26,000th reef block.. Take a couple every day – sure adds up. More Coral, More Fish! This is a tiny part of reef building off Maryland’s Coast – Support OC Reef Foundation to build vastly more coral habitat for the future… Cheers, Monty. www.ocreefs.org

Unlike Delaware, Maryland does not have a state funded reef program. Captain Monty Hawkins has been building reefs in Ocean City with the OC Reef foundation for a long time. Support them if you can, they will always accept help.

“The Ocean City Reef Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was created in 1997 when the Maryland Department of Natural Resources decided to terminate the state of Maryland’s Reef Program. “
