Northside Beach Is Closed At The Indian River Inlet

Yesterday Delaware Seashore State Park announced that north beach would be closed for repairs. ” BEACH CLOSURE ALERT: The Division of Soil and Water will doing beach stabilization on the North side of the Indian River Inlet tomorrow, Thursday, September 5, in preparation of Hurricane Dorian. During that time, the beach will remain closed.”

What does this mean? They are going to turn on the sand relocation system and pump sand to the north side to protect what is left of that beach area.

The sand relocation system is a federal program the Army Corp Of Engineers could not afford to run this year. Delaware was left running it and paying for it to be reimbursed later I am told.

It will be interesting to see just how much sand they can move in twenty four hours or less.
