My Bait Fridge Smells Amazing
Yesterday we went on a twelve hour chunk soak.
(April 2021) … If you haven’t seen Bob The Garbage Man videos out of Jersey they are hilarious. Keep the kids out of the room too.
Chris Skelton got up with me last week … “Hey man want to do a 12 hour soak Bob he Garbage Man style?”
Me .. “Oh heck yeah!”
We decided to do a little chunking yesterday and try the Anise that Bob claims is the key. We didn’t get anything on the chunk, but it was only once tried. Plenty of times to work on this technique this coming weekend in that soon to be perfect for striped bass crappy weather that is incoming.
I do know many anglers that swear by Anise on salted clams for drum and striped bass. I have ten more fish chunked and soaking. We were also just chunking bunker with nothing on it for comparison.
Big shoutout to Richard King at Port Penn Bait and Tackle for some seriously fresh bunker right off the boat. Icehouse Bait and Tackle for some fresh bunker as well.
All I know is after cutting up bunker for chunks and soaking them in Anise overnight. My bait fridge smells amazing now. If anything use Anise to kill that dead fish dumpster on a hot August day smell in your bait fridge. If you don’t like licorice, you’re gonna hate this smell. Every time I open the fridge the man cave smells like a week old Easter basket.
