Maryland Announces 2022 Summer Flounder Limits

MD DNR April (2022) … The Secretary of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources announces the season, catch limit, and minimum size for the 2022 summer flounder fishery. This notice supersedes all notices effective prior to April 18, 2022 affecting the 2022 summer flounder fishery.

SEASON
The season is open January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022.

RECREATIONAL MINIMUM SIZE AND CATCH LIMIT (creel limit)
16 inches …. 4 fish/person/day

COMMERCIAL MINIMUM SIZE
Hook and line: 16 inches
Gear other than hook and line: 14 inches

WHY THIS IS NECESSARY
This action is necessary to implement the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Fishery Management Plan.

WHO THIS NOTICE AFFECTS   
This applies to all individuals who catch summer flounder recreationally or commercially.

EFFECTIVE TIME AND DATE
This notice is effective at 12:01 a.m. April 18, 2022.
