Long Neck Road Was A No Wake Zone This Morning

Long Neck road flooded at high tide today, be careful tonight after 10 PM

Driscoll Drones took some killer shots of Long Neck road flooded at the White House Beach slough below Mariners Cove. The Inland Bay communities that usually flood have and then some.

Expect this to continue at least through the next three high tide cycles into Saturday night and possibly Sunday night. That all depends on how fast the water drains out of the inland bays. We need a solid wind shift for that to happen.

If you have to drive through this water in a small car follow the big trucks. Just not too closely in case they stall out and you have to get out of the way. Best to wait for the water to go down.

Debris is an issue with flooded roads. Boards with nails are particularly dangerous. Smaller vehicles should follow larger vehicles .

You can see how the wind pushes water across the flooded marsh. The road becomes thew storm surge and wind pushed water barrier. Built up marshes could prevent this issue. By dredging the inland bays and spraying the slurry into the marshes it would help protect the roads from flooding

Cars traveling in opposite directions need to be cautious of other vehicles the spray can blind you long enough to cause issues running off the road edge.
