Kid Bitten By Shark In Cape Henlopen State Park
Delaware State Park rangers are looking into a possible shark bite in Cape Henlopen State Park. A little before one this afternoon a 12 year old child was bitten while swimming in the surf. It is possible it is a sand shark. The young man has been taken to Beebe Hospital and is in good condition.
Sand sharks are your small basic shark. Sand Bars and Sand Tigers are here too, but sharks don’t really ever bother anyone. Younger sharks will bite reflex when poked or prodded. It is a defense mechanism, not them attacking someone, in case anyone is freaking out. Also as in the picture above from last year, sometimes sharks will get stressed and thrash about in the surf line due to injury or other issues.
