Indian River Inlet North Beach Is Taking A Beating from Hurricane Dorian Storm Surge
The DNREC crews worked hard yesterday to put more sand in the north beach area. It helped for a bit, but looks like it is all gone by now and the ocean is carving the dune out more. Glad they did what they could, they had to do something, can’t blame them.
High tide is a half hour away (3:45 PM) and water is to the dune line in Rehoboth and all Delaware beaches for the most part. The next two high tides will be just as bad but get better as we get closer to Sunday.

If you haven’t seen Ockrakoke, is flooded and areas along the coast of North Carolina. Landfall was heavy with storm surge, and nothing holds that back.
The entire beach has been washed out flat and now the waves start to erode the dune.

If you look in the background you can see where the sand relocation pipe is supported by a pile of sand. That will wash out soon enough.
