Haunted Places In Sussex County You Didn’t Know About
Haunted Places In Delaware, Many Are Very Close To Places We Fish.

Right off Catmans Road in Frankford there is a long dirt road that takes you to Long Cemetery or known as “Catman’s Grave” to ghost chasers. Isolated in the woods this graveyard has long been rumored to contain the spirit of “Catman”. A man who was apparently an unliked character when he was alive. He is said to “scare teenagers off” when they go there to party.
There was once a wall located in the back of the cemetery and rumor had it that if you knocked on the brick wall 3 times the cat man will tinker with your car so it won’t start when you leave. When I was in high school we all went there to play with the Ouija board, I’ll just say it was a very chilling experience.
Right around the corner from the Woodland Ferry is Maggie’s Bridge. From my experience this is probably one of the most creepy places I’ve ever been to at night. Legend has it that a woman named Maggie Bloxom was decapitated on a horse and buggy in the the late 1800’s while pregnant. Apparently if you get out of your car and say “Maggie I have your baby” a series of paranormal events will occur in the area.
Several big YouTube channels (Search Maggie’s Bridge) have actually flown from all over the country to Seaford to document their experiences here. The one time we were here we heard a loud thump on the back of the car after yelling “Maggie I have your baby”. I’ve never seen somebody throw their car into gear so fast in my life. Believe in ghosts or not you can’t deny this is one creepy place.

This place might look like any old Victorian style hotel with views of Bethany Beach but it is said to be extremely haunted. Built in 1902 it was named after the late John M Addy. In Room “1” the bathroom is said to have a bathtub that viciously shake. Numerous guests have confirmed this phenomenon. Others have said to here “organ music” coming from the room even though the room doesn’t contain an organ or any type of instruments.
Room 11 is supposedly haunted by the ghost of “Paul Delaney” a man that once worked for The Addy Sea. Furthermore many guests have reported to hear footsteps on the roof in the middle of the night while staying here, it is suspected to be the ghost of “Kurt Addy” who fell from the roof to his death many years ago. No matter what room you stay in you are bound to experience some kind of paranormal phenomenon. Strange sounds, music playing and lights flickering. Some have also reported that the answering machine will randomly turn on and off and guests being locked in closets.
Last but not least Cape Henlopen State Park. A loved park by many, a ghost haven for others. It is said that there is phantom soldier still on duty around Tower 12. Some claim to have seen a “soldier” like apparition in pictures they’ve taken by the tower. Apparently when you get to close to his post, a cracking disgruntled voice can be heard. Others have said to see the face of the soldier in photographs taken around the area. Animal growls have also been heard with no animal tracks in sight.
(Editor’s note, Fire Tower 12 is located near the campground in Cape Henlopen State park near the great dune. Most publications refer to fire control tower 12 as one of the towers on Gordons Pond beach in pictures, those are not the correct towers.)
