Gale Watch Into Thursday

Rehoboth Beach 8 PM

The NWS  has gale a force wind and and  small craft advisory for Wednesday afternoon.  The storm that was possibly an issue a couple of days ago is now just a regular storm.  Rain will be heavy at times tomorrow, and the winds will pick up.  Heavy east winds tonight that will switch south  into tomorrow.   Waves could top out at four to five feet Thursday night with the southwesterly wind.  Some agencies are predicting bigger waves up to seven feet.  High tide will definitely push to the dune edges but should not  be a big deal.  I wouldn’t expect any breaches just watch high tide if you are on the beach. No one is calling for a flood advisory so there is that.  I wouldn’t worry about flooding, and the dunes should be fine.  The beaches will get the usual storm carving, and the winds will move sand around.  Delaware Bay beaches have  heavy wave action right now.  Some people read about barrier island geomorphology, we get to live it.  The beaches will have some amazing structure to fish after this storm.  Bring on the spring run!  Beach combing could be interesting on Friday and into the weekend.

Fish on!
