Well that summer like weather was fun up until it started sleeting last night. Well played old man winter, I see you are trying to come back with a vengeance. Masseys Landing dropped six degrees in one tide cycle from fifty seven yesterday to fifty one this morning and still dropping. Now the main question is will these west winds push the bait farther offshore. We need lots of bait fish along the shoreline to bring the migratory bass to our beaches. They don’t just show up for the sun and fun. They are passing by for food, and our own resident fish that are ready to join the migration will head south with them as the schools move by Delaware. There have been some reports of large schools off the coast, hopefully they come within casting distance and out of the EEZ. Meanwhile the short striped bass action is hot in the tidal creeks, rivers and back bays. That would the best action to get into the next couple of days. White perch is good in the tidal creeks and rivers with some puppy drum hitting here and there. I avoided the wind yesterday by pond hopping in my kayak and getting into coves shielded by the wind. The pickerel action was awesome.
Fish On!
