Dewey Beach Landmark Burns Down

Late last night a car careened off the road from the forgotten mile, jumped across two curbs and the median, burst into flames, and ran into Ed’s Chicken & Crabs in Dewey Beach.  The building was engulfed in flames in no time.   Crews were able to put out the fire with only damage to that property.  It is a total loss, no one knows if they will rebuild.  My buddy Rob Jones lives next door and heard some commotion … “I heard the crash. Laid there like WTF. Then my alarm in my yard was going off non stop. Looked at cameras and just saw people. Was like daylight. Looked to my left and saw flames as high as the telephone pole top.  My nerves are still shot.  Another 20 feet and 10 minutes, I wouldn’t have a house  ”  Rob also has a surveillance camera out front for unwanted nigh time bar patrons that like to urinate in his yard, so he can catch them on camera. He caught the car on video coming across the median you can see it burst into flames after the bottom scrapes the pavement.

Thank fully no one was hurt.  The driver was unscathed and detained.  Dewey has been in the news a lot lately with out of control bar fights and now this.
