Delaware State Park Beaches Are Closed Some Fishing Areas Open

Due to the Governor Carney’s new Emergency orders the Delaware State Park’s beaches are now closed to walk on and drive on users. We are not allowed to drive on and surf fish the beaches. I know that is disappointing to everyone.

Fishing is not totally closed there are open areas, please practice social distancing. The Indian River Inlet, Cape Henlopen Fishing pier, Holts landing fishing pier are open to fish. You also have Masseys Landing fishing pier and area creeks, rivers and canals. Woodland beach pier is open, so far. Keep your distance if these places get crowded and practice social distancing. As soon as we know any more information, we will keep you posted. I am waiting on some answers to specific questions from the governor.

Assateague is open to surf fish but if you don’t have your permit you can’t get it right now.
Assateague Island National Seashore … “Now that contact station/campground office/ranger station has been temporarily closed as a precaution to help prevent the spread of COVID19, there is no way to purchase or renew an OSV pass. (We are not set up to process passes online or via snail mail.) If our facility closures continue into the month of April, we will continue to honor those permits expiring in March, but for no other previous months. If the closures extend in May, we would continue to honor those permits that expired in March and April, and so on, if closures continue. Expired OSV permits with expiration months prior to March will not be recognized as valid. Those folks wishing to renew their expired permits would need to wait until the visitor contact station reopens.
