Delaware Fishing Community Pulls Together To Help Joe Morris

If you have not already heard, Joe Morris of Lewes Harbor Marina has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. A Go Fund Me was started yesterday and it has done very well thanks to all in the fishing community. Joe is one of the coolest, down to earth, non-pretentious, laid back, straight shooting, honest to goodness people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I am very sad to hear of this news … “Capt. Joe Morris of Lewes Harbour Marina is fighting for his life. Joe was suddenly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer while on his annual Florida Keys trip and has been receiving treatment at Johns Hopkins as well as Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE. This awful disease crept up and took everyone by surprise. Joe is currently dealing with Stage Four cancer, as well as liver complications. If you have ever been so lucky to have met Joe and his loving wife, Amanda, you will know just how jarring this diagnosis has been. Joe is, always has been, and always will be one of- if not THE- nicest, most caring, friendly, helpful, and selfless person you could ever hope to have the pleasure of knowing. While this awful disease is currently giving Joe all he can handle, there is still hope. Any and all donations are more than welcomed, as well as any kind words, thoughts, stories, and certainly prayers. Joe and Amanda have been staples in the Lewes community for the last 22 years, and have positively affected countless lives, certainly including my own. Myself and everyone closely tied to this situation will be endlessly thankful for any support that can be offered. Let’s beat this disease… Dustin Schell ”
A Go Fund Me was started up yesterday to help Joe and Amanda alleviate some costs from treatments. If you can help please do and keep Joe and Amanda in your prayers. I am looking forward to seeing Joe back at the cleaning table this summer with a knife in his hand and a smile on his face.
