Must be Sea Witch Festival weekend we have a coastal flood advisory for Sunday starting at 6 AM
Every year we get a little weather around this weekend whether we like it or not. Post-tropical cyclone Olga is in town for the Sea Witch Festival, seems almost appropriate with that name. A few SWF weekends have been decent. Today will be okay with rain chances starting later tonight and wind picking up later this morning while we are surf fishing.
A mildly big wave and windy weekend, starting tonight into Sunday. I am going to cancel the beach clean up for Sunday. Can’t clean a beach in a monsoon, besides mother nature will take care of that for us, unfortunately.
Beach combing will be epic at low tide on Monday and Tuesday.
Rain will be an issue with ponding on roads and flooding low areas that can’t drain during high tide. With all of the people in town for Sea Witch Festival be careful driving and expect delays. I don’t expect route 1 to flood as it has recently.

The last few storm surges deposited large tree pieces on 3Rs beach and area beaches. Nothing like a piece of a tree the size of a small truck washing up on a beach or even an entire tree.
Expect these to move around or be pushed higher onto the beaches. Just be careful driving out there during high tide, not that I expect anyone will go out in this mess. We will go out because we have all this Helly Hansen gear I can use to keep dry and warm. If you haven’t hit the Helly Hansen sale at the store clsoing in the Tanger Outlets, Sunday would be a good day. It is possible parks will close some of the drive on accesses, but you can walk out and surf fish.
These conditions might get some of the larger resident striped bass feeding close to the surf. Might even be a few big migratory bass in the area. They are mostly way up north, but you just never know. Like people during tourist season, the fish don’t all come down at once, some show up early and late.
